Counts that comment was so rude and uncalled for. Just because a lot of the kids around here go to MECC, doesn't mean it's because they were not prepared for college. I am going to MECC and I graduated from Pound a couple of years ago. I got a great education there. I graduated 9th overall in my class, was a member of the National Beta Club for 3 years, a member of the Whose Who Among American High School Students for 4 years, was in Honors English ever since my freshman year. My senior year I took Dual Enrollment English 111-112, Dual Enrollment Pre-Calculus, and Indepent Study Governemt. Now, I am not going to MECC because I'm not prepared, it's because I don't want to go to a 4 year college and pay money out the arse, when I can go to MECC and get my degree in 2 years and be finished.

Just so you know I do pay too. I work so I can put food in my cabinets, & I pay taxes like everyone else. You need to rid yourself of this ridiculous mentality that just because someone is young that they know nothing. Trust me I know quite a few people who are older than me can be pretty stupid. Just because someone is old or young, people shouldnt sterotype them. Dont think that just because someone is old that they are smart or that because someone is young that they are dumb as a rock.

Elp6n--I know that one day I will get old, I just hope that when I do I wont be as much of a [censored] as you are. And I dont play house. I work to put groceries on my table, & food in my cabinets.

As for mythology, perhaps you havent dropped in on a history class in a while, but they still teach about mythology in high school and in college. In fact we just finished with it in my western civ. class.

No our economy hasn't exploded. Why do we need these nationally reconnized chains? So everyone can have their own heart attack from too many Big Macs?

Just because I work fast food doesn't mean that I'm worthless, that I dont matter. It is people who are willing to do these jobs that make peoples lives easier. What difference would it make if I were to go out and shovel [censored] out of the street? Im doing the best I can right now. And I am in college trying to make something of my self. Not sitting at home on my [censored] drawing foodstamps and welfare.

You asked who made clames about wise's superiority, well incase you didnt see it, nososilentbob clearly said that wise is superior to Pound.

Indian_dad- Just because I don't have kids in the school system right now doesnt make my opinion different. I hope to have kids here one day. I also hope to see them graduate from Pound. Not some half-assed consolidated school. And yes I have a lot of pride for my school. I know a lot of older people in this community that do too.

Six4three--I do plan on living here for the rest of my life. There is nothing that is going to make me move. I could have stayed in Florida and had what you would call "better opportunities" but I chose to come back here. You can't sell out your values and priorities for a few more bucks an hour. Not if your a decent human being.


I agree with burrhead, anyone who looks down on us or thinks that they are better off somewhere else can get out because it is people like you that have the county in the horrible shape that it is in.

Half-assed is the rag-tag decrepid old fossils that our kids are going to school in now.

LOL just calling it the way I see it. I can not count the number of times folks have told me that they went to MECC to get there biology out of the way because there was no way that they could pass it at CVC.

While it is great that you finished #9 in your class. That is not the point what I am saying is that with better schools your #9 rank at Pound would put you more on par with the top 10% Grads from NOVA high Schools

I am proud of you for working and going to college. Many will look down on you but keep your head up and continue to work your butt off. Never let anyone's opinion drag you down. I worked fast food most of my life barely making a living. When I should have stayed in school and went to college cause now I have children that I don't want to follow in my footsteps. I teach them about my mistakes and want better for them. But you are trying and that is more than some can say.

You are absolutely right, it doesn't matter what job you have right now, you put out 100% and no one should put you down for that. They are a pathetic human being if they do. Stay in college and one day you will reap the rewards of all your hard work.

[censored] right i hear all the time people doing that and i know first hand that biology at UVA wise is hard...i took majors biology my first semester and got a B and spent many a nights studying for the tests and finals 8 and 10 hours at a time

and for the person telling me pound education is great and everything trust me i was top of my class and graduated with honors and all that other sh*t with ease and i never even studied and got straight A's...and notice i said most teachers...so why not use that great education of yours and read my post before responding...and sharon mullins is the worst spanish teacher ever and totally screwed me over in high school by not teaching stuff i actually needed...she would always say that you will never need to learn how to do this or conjugate that...and in my spanish class in uva wise we are expected to learn everything she never taught... to me dottie could never explain to much

Oaklandraiders-- You said yourself that you never even studied, maybe if you had you would have done better in spanish. Senora's class is designed to make you work and to make you study, if you dont you get behind.

Indian_dad-- No our schools we have now are not half-assed. Like I have said time and time again, they were built in a day when people cared about the quaility of their work, not how big thier wallet was going to become by cutting corners and rushing things.
